Advice from Peter

How do you know where to begin?

Advice for a 16-Year-Old About Education

  • Even if you don't enjoy studying, the grades you achieve open doors. Without the right results, certain career paths simply won't be available to you.

  • Try to get work experience as early as possible. Even a few days can help you identify the right career path for you.

  • Don't be afraid to reach out directly to companies you are interested in. Peter contacted Henry Brothers himself, and it led to his apprenticeship.

Advice for your next steps after school

  • Don't feel pressured to go straight to university. An apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn and gain real industry experience from day one.

  • Get work experience or a placement before committing to a career path. Even a few days can help you decide if an industry is right for you.

  • If you are interested in a company, reach out to them directly. A simple email to their HR team could be the first step towards your career.
