About us

Northern Ireland's electricity grid operator, based in Belfast.

  • We operate and plan the future of Northern Ireland's electricity transmission system, working together with EirGrid to run the all-island wholesale electricity market through the SEMO joint venture

  • We don't generate or sell electricity — our role is to ensure power flows safely, securely and reliably from where it's generated to where it's needed

  • Our teams span engineering, IT, business and finance, technical planning, operational, commercial, project management, regulatory, analytical and electricity market disciplines

  • We run a two-year graduate development programme alongside internships and early career opportunities, pairing new starters with a mentor from day one

Our work

We operate the electricity transmission system for Northern Ireland, balancing demand and supply from our Control Centre to keep power flowing safely and reliably. As Northern Ireland's Transmission System Operator, we're transforming the grid to support a cleaner, more secure energy future, and we work in partnership with local communities, landowners, businesses and industry partners to deliver this once-in-a-generation energy transition.
